Overview

Overview

Inspired by Portland’s working waterfront and the idea that a rising tide lifts all boats, this refresh brings new energy to a familiar neighborhood brewery.

Beloved local brewery. Brand ready for what is next.

Rising Tide Brewing Co. is a family-owned brewery in Portland, Maine that has been crafting inventive beers since 2010. As they approached their fifteenth anniversary, the team knew the brand needed to evolve. The original logo and packaging no longer matched the momentum of the business or the vibrancy of the taproom. We set out to create a cleaner, more flexible visual system that could honor the brewery’s coastal roots, connect with younger drinkers, and show up consistently on cans, merch, and digital channels.

Problem

Problem

A respected brewery with loyal fans, but a visual identity that had fallen behind the beer.

Rising Tide’s original mark carried a lot of history, but it struggled to keep pace with an increasingly crowded craft beer shelf. The logo felt busy at small sizes. The packaging hierarchy made it hard to quickly understand style and flavor. The system did not scale cleanly across cans, taproom signage, events, and merch. At the same time, the brewery wanted to lean harder into its community-first ethos without looking like every other coastal brand in New England. The challenge was to modernize the brand without losing the familiarity and goodwill they had built over fifteen years.

Solution

Solution

A modern coastal system that sharpens what people already love about Rising Tide.

We started with strategy, clarifying how the “Rising Tide lifts all boats” philosophy could show up visually and verbally. From there, we streamlined the logo into a cleaner, more confident mark that still feels unmistakably Rising Tide. The can architecture was rebuilt to prioritize style, name, and color, making it easier to spot and shop on a crowded shelf. A restrained coastal palette, simplified wave and horizon cues, and thoughtfully chosen typography created a system that can flex from tap handles and truck graphics to digital campaigns and anniversary releases. Every piece of the identity was designed to feel familiar to regulars while offering a clearer invitation to new drinkers.

Rising Tide Coasters

Concept

Concept

A coastal brand world that feels rooted in place and ready to travel.

The creative idea centered on everyday coastal life in Portland rather than postcard clichés. The updated identity leans into simple, horizon-driven compositions and confident type that feels at home both in the taproom and in regional distribution. Iconography and layout choices echo navigation, tides, and motion without becoming literal. The result is a brand world that gives Rising Tide room to grow: seasonal releases slot in cleanly, new packaging lines up without visual noise, and campaigns can stretch from neighborhood events to broader regional storytelling. It feels like the same brewery people know, just clearer, sharper, and more aligned with where the brand is headed.
